Transmission Project Manager

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV. ECI is opening an office in Nebraska and has an opening for a transmission project manager to help start and grow a new office location.

About the role

Responsibilities include the conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines, including material procurement and construction support through line energization. Additional responsibilities include the scoping, budgeting, scheduling, planning, executing, monitoring and reporting of transmission line projects and proposals.

A Project Manager oversees a project team (or teams) of engineers, designers, drafters and support staff, ensuring best-in-class project execution and delivery. Project Managers interact with and coordinate ECI's subject matter expert discipline groups such as Substation Engineering, Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Civil Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right-of-Way, and Project Management/Controls to ensure successful execution of assigned projects. They are ECI's primary interface with clients and other project stakeholders and provide technical mentorship and training of project team design staff.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines
• Material procurement and construction support through line energization
• Scoping, budgeting, scheduling, planning, executing, monitoring, and reporting of transmission line projects and proposals
• Overseeing project teams of engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff
• Executing ECI's quality control procedure
• Coordinating with subject matter expert discipline groups (e.g., Substation Engineering, Transmission Studies, Civil Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right-of-Way)
• Serving as the primary interface with clients and other project stakeholders
• Providing technical mentorship and training to project team design staff
• Resolving conflicting priorities and schedules

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, 10+ years' project engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of demonstrated project management and leadership experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Commitment to quality and accuracy
• Willingness and ability to meet fast-paced project schedules
• Advanced knowledge of transmission engineering principles
• Expertise regarding applicable codes, standards, and design tools
• Ability to direct and oversee multiple technical disciplines in the completion of transmission line projects
• Must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future
• Subject to client-mandated drug and background checking
• Occasional travel/driving required; must meet ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements

Preferred qualifications: PE license and PMP certification.
