Role Overview

This position involves designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining electrical equipment within transmission and distribution facilities. The engineer provides expertise in transmission, distribution, substations, SCADA automation, and supporting systems, supporting reliable and efficient power delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and lead capital projects related to transmission design, materials, and equipment.
  • Research, design, and implement new/upgraded transmission system equipment.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, develop design requirements, and review specifications and drawings.
  • Utilize engineering modeling tools like PLS-CADD for analysis and design.
  • Engage with manufacturers, vendors, and industry forums; represent the engineering department.
  • Develop standards, procedures, and training; mentor less experienced staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (FERC, NERC, CIP) and safety policies.
  • Support project management activities including budgeting, scheduling, and field support.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience (4+ years for entry-level, more for senior roles).
  • Experience with transmission components, design principles, and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency in technical drawing, modeling tools, and problem-solving.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Preferred: Master's degree, PE license, or Engineering in Training certification.
