Transmission Line Design Project Manager
About the role
The Transmission Line Project Manager/Team Lead will manage the execution of all aspects of high voltage electric transmission line projects of all sizes and complexity. They will oversee project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, and quality control, schedule, and budget management. They will also supervise and grow a local team and/or leverage existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world-class services to clients.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision over existing team of 3-4 engineers and designers with a goal to grow the team.
- Manage and lead transmission projects throughout an entire project life cycle.
- Understand and apply basic project management tools and techniques including the following: project life cycle, client goals and objectives, contract terms and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope/schedule/budget, project initiation, project planning, financial management and controls, including earned value, internal/external communication, team management, change management, and project closeout.
- Career development and engagement of local team members through annual performance reviews.
- Coordinate with marketing and technical leadership for business development.
- Leverage and/or develop client relationships to develop new transmission opportunities.
- Supervise non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
- Lead the QA/QC process on projects and is committed to delivering world-class quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 7 years related experience
- A minimum of 2 years project management experience
Qualifications
- License/Certification: PMP certification preferred
- Organizational, project management, and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
Skills
Strong technical experience in design preferred.
