Transmission Foreman

About the Role

Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices, Equipment Operators, Crane Operators, and Groundmen performing maintenance and construction on all transmission projects.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized power lines
• Lead and teach hot stick work on energized lines
• Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings
• Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit
• Safely perform reconductoring jobs
• Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers
• Use a load bust tool
• Identify and locate puller and tensioner setups
• String overhead wire
• Set poles and anchors
• Inspect PPE and rubber goods
• Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear
• Troubleshoot problems and supervise troubleshooting in primary and secondary systems
• Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems
• Work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect lives
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Comply with company reporting procedures and complete required paperwork
• Coordinate and inspect the work of crew members
