Transmission Engineering Drafter
About the role
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]. This is an on-site position located in Greensburg, PA.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise drawings and documentation for transmission projects, including wood and steel transmission structures, foundations, plan and profiles, construction lists, crossing permits, and field reports.
- Work with PLS-CADD to assist in drawing preparation.
- Prepare bills-of-material and specifications to procure needed equipment and materials for a transmission line project.
- Aid ROW Services and Real Estate in the acquisition of transmission line easements and substation property by preparing sketches, maps, exhibits, and easement plans.
- Aid in preparing and revising CAD procedures and standards.
- Provide assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities, including storm response duties that may require time out of the office for extended stays.
- Manage drawings and documents using FileNet.
- Contribute to a safe environment for transmission lines personnel, co-workers, contractors, and the general public.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certification in computer aided drafting (CAD).
- Minimum 0-2 years related drafting experience.
- Working knowledge of applicable computer software necessary to fulfill job duties, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of FileNet, SAP, PLS-CADD, and GIS a plus but not a requirement.
- Valid driver's license.
- Maintain a safety culture and a safe work environment for co-workers, contractors, and the general public.
- Ability to work independently and in teams with other FirstEnergy areas of responsibility, including Siting and Permitting, Project Management, Maintenance, Forestry, Real Estate, and Construction, as well as the Regional operating companies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships across FE.
- Strong organizational, computer, and problem-solving skills.
