Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze overhead and underground transmission lines (typically 69kV–345kV+).
- Perform line routing, structure spotting, and loading calculations.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, equipment specifications, technical bid summaries, and technical reports.
- Conduct electrical, structural, and thermal analyses using industry software tools.
- Collaborate with substation, distribution, protection, and construction teams.
- Support permitting, environmental, and right-of-way considerations.
- Provide construction support, including responding to RFIs and field issues.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, NERC, and utility standards.
- Aid in cost estimates, schedules, and project documentation.
- Participate in internal design reviews and quality assurance processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain.
- 2–7+ years of transmission line engineering experience (level dependent).
- Working knowledge of transmission design standards and codes.
- Proficiency with industry software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, GIS tools).
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience working directly with utility clients.
- Familiarity with ERCOT or regional utility standards.
- Experience with renewable interconnections or system upgrades.
- Ability to travel.
Compensation and Benefits
- $178 per diem for nights spent away from the Athens/Home Area on approved field assignments.
