Transmission Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Project Engineer to join our dynamic and nationally recognized team of Power Delivery professionals. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for performing complex high voltage transmission line designs and will have the opportunity to mentor and guide less-experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all technical aspects and deliverables associated with the conceptual and detailed transmission line designs using PLS-CADD and foundation design software such as L-Pile or Caisson.
- Capture and coordinate the preparation of construction release packages, including plan and profiles, structure load trees, structure assemblies and details, stringing charts, foundation schedules and details, and bills of material.
- Assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members while coordinating quality control reviews for work performed by EITs and Designers.
- Identify and implement learning opportunities for team members through job shadowing, specific project tasks, 'show and tell' sessions, and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct quality control reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
- Provide engineering input on specific project design issues and questions.
- Perform engineering analyses to develop design options.
- Aid in the preparation of cost estimates and lead design reviews with clients.
- Provide input on the development of project manhours estimates and task schedules.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks for multiple projects, ensuring adherence to schedule and budget.
- Perform site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects, including participating in field reviews or construction observation.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- 4+ years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility and/or renewables industry.
- 4+ years of structural analysis and PLS-CADD experience.
- Experience with transmission line voltages of 69kV thru 500kV, with experience thru 765kV being a plus.
- Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience developing project manhour and cost estimates, and schedules.
- Prior experience in foundation design using software such as L-Pile or Caisson.
- Experience working with Renewables developers and/or the interconnection of Renewables.
- Experience interpreting and applying industry design codes such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI.
- Experience liaising and communicating closely with internal and external project stakeholders.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $62.50/hr.
