Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of transmission and driveline systems, including gearsets, torque converters, axles, differentials, and transfer cases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including CAE, NVH, durability, vehicle dynamics, packaging, and manufacturing
- Develop and execute Design Verification Plans (DVP&R), including testing at component and vehicle level
- Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies
- Drive supplier design reviews and approvals
- Define system requirements and ensure alignment with suppliers
- Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and improved reliability
- Prepare and present technical reports and design reviews
- Mentor and guide junior engineers
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive engineering
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of driveline systems including transfer cases, disconnects, gear reducers, and actuators
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, Is/Is Not, 3L5Y, Red X)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- DFSS green belt certification
- Demonstrated working level experience in decomposing intended function into requirements
- Working experience with in-vehicle problem diagnosis and NVH evaluations
- Knowledge of CAE/CFD to collaborate with virtual analysis teams
- Experience with assembly and computer aided design (NX / CATIA)
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
