About the role

This position has a target start date in summer 2027. As an Associate Engineering Intern you will be assigned to a project team in the Grid business unit and assist engineering team members in the execution of their project work. The internship offers a hybrid work arrangement, with an expectation of three days per week in the office and two days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs for transmission and distribution projects.
  • Support a variety of project‑reporting tasks, including tracking and evaluating project activities, progress, and associated data.
  • Participate in power design work and prepare documents and specifications for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and related installation services.
  • Work under the direction of senior engineers, applying academic knowledge in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with a strong academic background.
  • Candidates in other engineering disciplines may be considered if they have relevant coursework in civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, or electrical power.
  • U.S. work authorization required; the company does not sponsor work visas for this position.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self‑starter, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Enrollment in an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience on campus or in the community.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (strongly preferred).
  • Prior internship or co‑op experience in a related business area.
  • Interest or experience with emerging technologies such as AI, automation, programming, or digital tools (valued but not required).

Compensation

Hourly rate range: $18.00 – $30.00, with eligibility for discretionary annual bonuses.

Schedule

Hybrid work model: three days on‑site, two days remote. Target start date in summer 2027.
