Transmission & Distribution Engineer Intern - Grid (Summer 2027)
About the role
This Associate Engineering Intern position will start in summer 2027 and is assigned to a project team within the Grid business unit. The intern will assist engineering team members on transmission and distribution projects, including design of new facilities, modifications, and upgrades. Work is performed under the direction of senior engineers and offers a hybrid schedule (three days on‑site, two days remote).
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Support project reporting tasks such as tracking and evaluating project activities, progress, and related data.
- Participate in power design work and prepare documents and specifications for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and other team members on a variety of engineering disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or related).
Qualifications
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline with a strong academic record.
- Candidates in other engineering programs may be considered if they have relevant coursework (e.g., civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, electrical power).
- U.S. work authorization (the company does not sponsor visas for this role).
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Self‑starter, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, devise solutions, and meet deadlines.
Valued (but not required) Skills and Experience
- Enrollment in an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
- Demonstrated leadership experience on campus or in the community.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (strongly preferred).
- Prior internship or co‑op experience in a related business area.

Pay
Compensation range: $18.00 – $30.00 per hour (base salary or hourly rate), plus eligibility for discretionary annual bonus and the comprehensive benefits package described above.
Schedule
Target start date: Summer 2027.
Hybrid work arrangement: three days per week in the office, two days remote.
