Transmission Coordinator Associate thru Project Planning Coordinator– Civil Transmission Construction Management (Metro East Region)

About the Role

Working under the direct supervision of the Transmission Construction Manager, this role supports the development and maintenance of project site development schedules, coordinates construction efforts in the field among various entities, updates construction status information, and communicates overall project status with multiple parties. The assigned projects are in various stages of activity and often occur simultaneously.

The Coordinator Associate is expected to work from the office as well as the field, as required. The environment and working conditions can be physically and mentally demanding, with frequent on-site visits regardless of weather conditions. Issues may require immediate attention, some of which can be resolved remotely, while others require unscheduled on-site visits. The role can be mentally challenging due to the number of projects and changing project conditions, which may require rapid adjustments to project schedules.

The successful candidate will support the Transmission Offices in the Metro East Region, including Dallas, North Dallas, Forney, South Dallas, Texoma, and Sulphur Springs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and understand transmission grading, erosion control, and physical substation and switching station project plans.
• Apply knowledge of site grading practices, erosion control measures, soil compaction and testing procedures, soil classifications, and drainage infrastructure.
• Conduct field visits to job sites to evaluate plan construction needs and develop detailed construction schedules and work sequence documents.
• Develop, revise, and maintain construction schedules and phasing plans between multiple contractors to minimize mobilizations and standby time.
• Identify permitting risks from various municipalities and forecast schedule implications with a high degree of confidence.
• Coordinate various meetings such as District status, pre-bid, pre-construction, and customer-related meetings with the Construction Manager, engineers, and other stakeholders, providing solutions to identified issues.
• Communicate effectively on overall project status and maintain relationships with multiple parties, both internal and external to Oncor, to resolve construction and coordination issues.
• Suggest alternative work plans to construction contractors to maintain the construction schedule.
• Review projects near the end of construction schedules for completeness; if issues are identified, develop and communicate a “resolution plan” to the Construction Manager and other responsible parties.
• Prioritize multiple tasks to maintain project schedules.
• Provide recommendations to the Transmission Construction Manager to improve processes, practices, and procedures for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Learn and apply the Oncor Transmission and Contractor Safety Handbook requirements.
• Possess basic knowledge of Transmission line and substation construction activities and materials.
• Learn and apply computer skills required for normal office programs and other company-specific software.
• Perform all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Science, or Business is encouraged.
• Understanding and familiarity with the design, operation, and/or construction of Transmission electric system facilities.
• Basic knowledge of Transmission line and substation construction activities and materials.
• Prior design, construction management, and operation of electric grid experience is encouraged.

Experience requirements vary by role:

• Transmission Coordinator Associate: 0 – 2 years of relevant experience in construction management.
• Transmission Coordinator: 2+ years’ experience in Transmission Operations, Construction, or Engineering.
• Transmission Coordinator Senior: 4+ years’ experience in Transmission Operations, Construction, or Engineering.
• Project Planning Coordinator: 5+ years’ experience in Transmission Operations, Construction, or Engineering OR 1-2+ years of experience with demonstrated high-level performance in the Construction Coordinator role.
