Translator for SUN Manual-English to Mongolian
About the role
Wycliffe Associates is working on Bible translation projects for deaf and blind individuals all over the world, using a process called SUN (Symbolic Universal Notation) which is a symbol-based writing system which will give the deaf and the deaf-blind immediate access to Scripture. We've found that there are approximately 600,000 people in the world who are both deaf and blind. Since the deaf-blind cannot use audio, a system needed to be created that would be able bring the Scriptures to them. An idea was proposed to use universally recognized pictures and symbols to convey meaning resulting in the process of creating SUN. For this project, we are seeking native or bilingual Mongolian speakers who can translate an English training manual into Mongolian.
The training manuals will be used for teachers to the deaf and blind in Outer and Inner Mongolia. Basic computer skills and language fluency in both English and Mongolian are needed. This work is entirely remote and will only require about 8 hours of service per week.
