Transitional Year GME Program Director

Description

HCA Healthcare East Florida is seeking an experienced and dynamic physician leader to head their Transitional Year residency program at Lawnwood as Program Director. The Program Director will oversee the operations of the program, in compliance with ACGME and ABMS regulations and requirements, and will collaborate with other Program Directors, GME Directors, Hospital Leadership, and various other stakeholders to ensure the highest quality of education and program success.

Requirements

• Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in his/her specialty
• Licensed to practice medicine in Florida
• Credentialed at the facilities of his/her clinical engagement
• At least three [3] years of clinical experience in an academic/teaching environment
• Demonstrated involvement in medical education leadership and active involvement in research and scholarship over the past 5 years
• Experience as Program Director, APD, and/or Core Faculty with leadership involvement is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer a high-quality curriculum for residents
• Evaluate and mentor residents and other learners
• Evaluate and develop program faculty
• Evaluate and mentor residents and other learners, in compliance with established requirements and best practices
• Engage with hospital leadership and the community
• Oversee resident recruitment efforts
• Compile reports and maintain accurate and timely communication
• Create and maintain program policies and procedures in alignment with ACGME and Sponsoring Institution

Skills

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a commitment to medical education, and experience in managing a residency program. They should also be able to work collaboratively with hospital leadership and the community, and have a passion for medical education and research.

Pay

Salary will be dependent upon experience

Schedule

Based on the program size and ACGME requirements, it will be expected that the Program Director will spend 35% in administration and teaching related to the program and 65% with clinical activities.

Qualifications

The Program Director will have the responsibility, authority and accountability for the operations of the program, in compliance with applicable ACGME and American Board of Medical Specialties regulations and requirements. In this role, the Program Director will be part of the overall Graduate Medical Education leadership within the HCA Healthcare East Florida Division and will collaborate with other Program Directors, GME Directors, Hospital Leadership, and a variety of other stakeholders to assure the highest quality of education and the program.
