Transition to Practice Nurse Educator - ED
About the Role
The Transition to Practice (TTP) Clinical Educator is a skilled professional who specializes in the clinical learning environment. The TTP Clinical Educator supports and assists with clinical education activities for the organization and within their assigned division, market, or facility. They play a crucial role in improving professional practice and ensuring high-quality patient care by facilitating standardized, evidence-based, and top-notch educational content. This role enhances the professional competency of nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff and students, teaching content specific to their profession and specialty.
This includes all educational aspects of transition to practice programs, such as new employee orientation, RN Residency/Fellowship, Preceptor Program, and other educational courses or experiences. The TTP Clinical Educator also delivers targeted education to address identified practice gaps and participates in rounding to achieve specific outcomes for the intended audience.
Responsibilities
- Participates in and provides lifelong learning opportunities
- Facilitates orientation, onboarding, and transition to practice programs to promote employee retention
- Conducts training in a manner that fosters a positive learning environment
- Provides expertise in identifying professional development needs of individual staff in the identified specialty setting
- Assists staff in identifying areas for individual growth in their current role
- Directs staff to career advancement resources
- Utilizes the novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff
- Applies adult educational theory to the development of educational programs
- Demonstrates and applies evaluation methodologies (e.g., Kirkpatrick) to refine clinical programs
- Contributes insights and feedback for succession planning
- Identifies and provides opportunities for skill enhancement and mastery
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (required)
- Master's degree in nursing (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in clinical education, clinical staff coordination (CSC), academia, or leadership (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in an acute care hospital or Emergency Department
- Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state(s) of practice, in accordance with law and regulation
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Nationally recognized specialty certification (preferred)
- Ability to travel up to 75% within the market
