Transition Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to high school students utilizing Joshua Tree lesson plans in Self-Advocacy, Workplace Readiness, Career Exploration, and Post-Secondary Options.
• Lead and assist in extracurricular events for high school juniors/seniors, Special Olympics, fairs, and community-wide events.
• Provide 1-on-1 coaching for supported employment and individual job placement, helping clients build social, vocational, and life skills.
• Mentor clients through career inventories, advisement, resume building, cover letters, mock interviews, and job site evaluations.
• Explore businesses in assigned regions to uncover job openings, present our Community Partners Network, and build employer partnerships.
• Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with VR staff, school administrators, clients, and natural support systems to drive annual referrals.

Requirements & Experience

• Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree and/or Certifications in Business Administration, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Education, Ministry, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience (paid or unpaid) in similar fields, with a proven track record of working with individuals and communities. In-person classroom experience is required.

Key Skills

• Self-motivated to manage a hybrid schedule without direct supervision.
• Exceptional public speaking, negotiation, written documentation, and Google Workspace skills required.

Schedule & Location

• Full-time W-2 hybrid position (work from home, high schools, and field canvassing).
• Requires 35 to 40 hours per week aligned with GVRA office hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM).
• Travel up to an hour from assigned GVRA office(s) may be required.

Operational Requirements

• Position begins with a 90-day probationary period.
• Employment is "at-will" and contingent upon a clear federal background check, state credential approval, and successful interview with JTSG leadership.

Compensation & Package

• Base Pay: $42,000 per year ($3,500 per month paid semi-monthly via Direct Deposit).
• Expense Allowance: $250 per month allowance for field and operational expenses.
• Pre-ETS Commission: $10 per student commission for Pre-ETS services paid on the end-of-month pay period check.
