Transit Systems Intern

About the role

As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you will help shape systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. The work spans resilient highways, iconic bridges, transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports, and marine infrastructure, directly supporting economic vitality, public safety, sustainable communities, and quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Gain real‑world experience on exciting projects.
• Connect with recent college graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs.
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Approximately two years completed toward a degree.
• Knowledge of CAD.
• Interest or completed coursework in circuits or systems engineering.
• Preference given to local candidates.

Pay

Minnesota: $25 – $30 per hour (range depends on skills, experience, education, and geographical location).
