About the Role
The Transit Planner supports FXBGO!'s transportation planning by managing projects and activities related to the Transit Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities
- Route and Service Optimization: Recommend changes to bus routes and paratransit services to improve punctuality and increase ridership, as well as analyzing service change requests and new bus stop proposals.
- Compliance and Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of the Transit Strategic Plan, ensuring compliance with regulations like ADA standards, and conducting research to support goals for transit-dependent and Title VI populations.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data to support scheduling, route design, service evaluation, and planning. This includes conducting surveys, analyzing transit data, and interpreting statistics for transit planning.
- Communication and Outreach: Support communication strategies and outreach related to the Transit Strategic Plan. This includes preparing reports, presenting recommendations, and creating publication materials such as brochures and fact sheets.
Requirements
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, urban planning or related field; experience in transit or local government preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience performing responsible administrative work, and/or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of transit operations, management practices, government, applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations affecting public transportation; principles, practices and techniques of transit or urban planning.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ArcGIS, GIS software, and Intelligent Transit Software (ITS) preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Suites.
