About the role
This position is responsible for interactions between centralized patient placement, staffing, all physicians, internal and external customers. This position will be regarded as an overseer of patient flow as it pertains to direct admissions and all transfers. This position coordinates and makes placement decisions for all facilities based upon facility volume, clinical acuity, physician discretion, and available services.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with patient flow coordinators, operators, front line staff, and the nursing supervisors to promote proper patient placement and improved patient flow.
- Appropriately and thoroughly documents interactions with internal and external customers in a timely, appropriate, and thorough manner.
- Makes patient flow prioritization and placement decisions for all entities within the Willis-Knighton Health System.
- Acts as a representative of the health system in any dealings with outside facilities and physician offices.
- Utilizes all critical resources within the organization to assure appropriate placement of patients in a timely manner.
- Supplements the needs of the department when it is needed, including but not limited to access nursing and utilization review assistance.
Qualifications
- ASN (BSN preferred).
- Minimum Experience Required: 5 years nursing with critical care and/or emergency department.
- Licensure/certification required: Current State of Louisiana RN License.
