A Day in the Life of a Transfer Operator

As a Transfer Operator, you'll spend your day outdoors transferring bulk materials-both hazardous and non-hazardous-between railcars and tank trucks. Using pumps, hoses, and valves, you'll prepare products for transfer by heating, sparging, or sampling. You'll climb railcars, work at heights, and sometimes wear full hazmat PPE to stay safe. When transfer work slows down, you'll also help with maintenance of the yard and building to keep the site operating efficiently. This variety means no two days are exactly the same.

What You'll Love About Being a Transfer Operator

  • $18/hr starting pay with overtime opportunities
  • Day shift schedule
  • Company-provided PPE plus annual steel-toed boot allowance
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan

What It Takes to Succeed

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliability
