About the role
Dispatcher 12-Hour Shifts
Day: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Night: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Responsibilities
- Answer all incoming 911 calls for Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet County.
- Track personnel, reports, addresses, mapping, and more using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD).
- Use Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) to assist Law Enforcement in traffic stops, warrant checks, and officer safety cautions.
- Maintain and enter warrants, PPOs, and court orders into LEIN.
- Monitor and disseminate LEIN bulletins to local law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain radio traffic for public safety agencies.
- Monitor weather-related information and make decisions based on this information.
- Provide emergency medical dispatching services, ensuring the right level of care is sent to patients.
- Complete 4 structured phases of training, including observation, computer aided dispatch, law enforcement information network, 911 call taking, and shadow phase.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.

Qualifications
- Fluent in English.
- Valid driver's license.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Pass a psychological evaluation.
- Pass a physical exam, drug screen, and hearing test.
- Pass Critical Test and Personality Test.
- Typing 30 words per minute or higher.
- List any PC applications used.
- List any job-related certificates and their acquisition dates.
- List any special accomplishments, publications, awards, and professional group memberships.
- Not currently under indictment for any felony offense.

Schedule
24-hour operation with 12-hour shifts. No guaranteed shift assignment or length of time on a shift. Required overtime may be ordered/forced. Typical shift times include:
