Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position. THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION ENDING NOVEMBER 2027. The first review of applications will be on 07/31/2026. This grant-funded Training and Education Coordinator I position supports the Education and Training Development (ETD) team by independently managing assignments related to the documentation, analysis, and improvement of organizational business processes that enhance effectiveness and operational efficiency. The position requires strong self-direction, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through on complex tasks. The role documents existing workflows and applies critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and Lean Six Sigma principles to evaluate current processes and policies, identify inefficiencies or gaps, and recommend practical improvements. Responsibilities include revising and developing business processes and policies, creating new workflows when needed, and producing clear, accurate, and well-structured standardized documentation for procedures and guides. The position collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to gather information and implement improvements, ensuring complex processes are translated into clear, user-friendly documentation that directly supports the ETD team in developing consistent, efficient, and high-quality training materials and programs. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Documenting existing business processes to ensure accurate, clear, and accessible records of current workflows and procedures across programs and departments.Analyzing business processes using Lean Six Sigma principles to evaluate efficiency, identify bottlenecks, and determine whether current processes are the most effective method of operation.Reviewing and editing existing processes to improve clarity, reduce redundancy, and increase overall operational effectiveness.Identifying gaps in current workflows, including missing, unclear, or undocumented processes that impact service delivery or training needs.Developing new business processes when gaps are identified, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, compliance standards, and best practices.Creating and maintaining standardized documentation for all processes, including step-by-step procedures, workflow guides, and supporting training materials to ensure consistency and ease of use. Researches, coordinates and develops materials for use in training staff and educating clients on procedures, rules, regulations, forms, requirements and equipment for area of assignment;Assists management in the identification of training needs for staff and education for clients;Collects, compiles, prepares, updates and assembles training and presentation materials and manuals;Designs new training and education materials and/or updates materials on a regular basis;Conducts initial training/orientation for newly hired staff to increase understanding of procedures and position responsibilities;Delivers training to classes and individuals through lectures, demonstrations, exercises and workshops;Conducts continuing education to comply with changes in federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures, and to resolve specific performance deficiencies;Coordinates and investigates compliance with federal, state and/or local policies, laws and regulations and conducts quality control audits and reports on findings;Participates in the review of productivity levels for activities and staff, analyzes problem areas, identifies training needs and recommends solutions to management;Assesses implementation of policies and/or procedures and makes recommendations to management regarding changes and/or supplemental training;Provides additional training as needed, under management direction;Serves as the technical advisor for interpreting federal, state, and County policies, laws, rules and/or regulations governing are of assignment;Compiles statistical data and prepares reports for area of assignment for presentation to management and the Board of Supervisors.Develops and evaluates student surveys/assessments on training/education provided;Coordinates and maintains training/education materials, audio-visual equipment, laptops, tablets and supplies utilized for training and education;Maintains manual and computer-based documentation on training and/or education conducted, competency checklists and assessment files. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in, education, business, public administration, government, political science or a field applicable to the department’s operations as identified by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of professional experience conducting staff/client training and education. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) Or One year with Pima County as a professional trainer or educator. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.): Minimum one (1) year of experience in business process analysis, process improvement, organizational development, or a related field, preferably in a government or large organizational setting.Minimum one (1) year of experience documenting, analyzing, and improving workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), or organizational processes.Minimum one (1) year of experience developing training materials or supporting employee training and development initiatives.Experience with/knowledge of applying Lean Six Sigma principles or similar continuous improvement methodologies to evaluate and improve business processes. Selection Procedure Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process. Supplemental Information Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
