Responsibilities

  • Perform all job responsibilities in a manner that supports a healthy, safe, and productive work environment for all employees.

  • Support the overall mission of the DNR.
  • Establish a framework for annual customer service training for the Parks and Trails Division.
  • Lead the development, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of customer service training for the entire division, tailored to all roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide training support through development, coordination, tracking, and delivery of division specific training.
  • Ensure education, training, and development needs and requirements of the Department, Division, and employee are met.
  • Serve as a standing member on the Enforcement and Emergency Services Team. Provide leadership and support to team members. Work with other divisions to coordinate training.
  • Serve as a standing member on the Parks and Trails Annual Training Team. Provide training support through coordination, delivery, tracking, and recordkeeping of division specific resource management training.
  • Ensure that the training needs and requirements of the Department, Division, resource management program and employee are met.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of professional level experience in training and development, including logistics, natural resources management, or emergency services.
  • A bachelor's degree in a Natural Resources related field, Training and Development, Business Administration, areas of resource management, recreation, and public contact, or closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
  • Project management skills sufficient to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of completion at one time.
  • Organizational and time management skills sufficient to address multiple demands on work time and meet tight timelines and deadlines.
  • High level of organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Knowledge of budget process management and document handling to effectively manage a large multidimensional training support and development needs.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures and explain program regulations necessary for program administration.
  • Knowledge of legislative process, laws, regulations, and procedures governing acquisition.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software sufficient to create/prepare reports and presentations, manage databases, and track projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to establish strong working relationships; work effectively as a team member and carry out work assignments; and possess the ability to identify issues, solve disputes, and recommend solutions.
  • Human relations skills sufficient to promote the program; inform and advise DNR staff and clients; answer questions and explain regulations; mediate and resolve conflict resulting from nonperformance; prepare and promote news items and interact with news media; and represent the Department to diverse groups.
  • Ability to assume both a helping and monitoring role, balancing the need to maintain the trust and respect of the client with the need to maintain program integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a Natural Resources related field, Training and Development, Business Administration, areas of resource management, recreation, and public contact, or closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of professional level experience in training and development, including logistics, natural resources management, or emergency services.
  • Experience working with outdoors clubs, statewide wildlife conservation organizations, or governmental agencies.
  • Experience building consensus to make teams successful.
  • Experience working in natural resources.
