Trailer Technician Trainee

Under close supervision, this position is responsible for gaining foundational knowledge of tools, equipment, shop safety, and J.B. Hunt Shop rules, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will learn to become efficient in air brake systems, FHWA inspections, and general repairs. This role may require working outdoors, in various weather conditions, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends, in addition to overtime.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior team member to learn repairs according to company and manufacturer specifications, complete work orders, and train on standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
• Understand and follow all shop safety procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
• Train to perform routine preventative maintenance, replace parts/components, and conduct basic repairs related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through the company’s toolbox purchase program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas through various mediums.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently.
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements, including lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire, including protective gear/PPE.
