Job Summary
About the Role
This position acts as a subject matter expert for Trailer Technicians under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and complex repairs as it pertains to trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections
- Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform the most difficult repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders, and exceed company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer training for OE repairs
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers at all times
- Complete secondary maintenance on escalated repairs
- May troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair specialized trailer equipment, such as refrigerated units
- May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- Must demonstrate the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Able to work across multiple shifts
- Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License
- Advanced welding skills (MIG and stick)
- Knowledge of ABS systems
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must be able to lift/move appliances up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Pay
The expected starting pay range for this position is between $26.50-$39.75 per hour. This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.
