Maryland Judiciary Benefits (mdcourts.gov) About the Maryland Court System | Maryland Courts (mdcourts.gov) Maryland Judiciary Salary Scales 2026 Main Purpose Of The Job This position performs duties and responsibilities in the Traffic Processing Center to include, receiving, processing, and batching all Maryland uniform traffic citations for entry into the Maryland Automated Traffic System. Other duties are to maintain records and provide continuous customer service to internal and external customers via the telephone. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Telephones: Provide excellent and continuous customer service to internal and external callers via the telephone. Traffic Citations (from law enforcement): Receive Maryland uniform traffic citations from law enforcement agencies, verify and process transmittals and batch citations for entry into the Maryland Automated Traffic System. Traffic Citations (from court locations): Receive Maryland uniform traffic citations from District Court commissioners and clerks, verify transmittals, verify entry in the Maryland Automated Traffic System and batch file. Remove from batch and process for entry if necessary. Maintain Records: Receive entered citation batches, file and maintain in batch storage. Retrieve and provide copies of records in response to internal and external caller inquiries. Microfilm Records: Receive and store microfilm tapes from Judicial Information Systems and retrieve records from microfilm in response to inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School (or GED equivalent). Experience: One (1) year of work experience. Note A Bachelors Degree may substitute the required work experience. A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience. A Paralegal Certificate May Substitute The Required Work Experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge Of General office practices, procedures, and equipment. Basic English and arithmetic to include, but not limited to, spelling, punctuation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Skill In Typing on a personal computer. Accuracy and attention to detail. Customer service and handling problems tactfully and patiently. Ability To Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copier, microfilm machine, scanner, fax machine calculator, etc. Use an automatic call distribution telephone system. Communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with the public and provide information in a polite and efficient manner over the telephone. Maintain and use detailed filing system. Ability to communicate effectively with other court personnel and staff of ancillary agencies. Exercise tact and understanding in pressure situations. Understand and follow complex directions. Perform all the functions of the job proficiently with moderate supervision. Exercise independent judgment and initiative.
