Traffic Incident Program Engineer
About the role
The Traffic Incident Program Engineer supports the North Carolina DOT TIM Program. The position involves working on-site at the North Carolina DOT Statewide Traffic Management Center in Raleigh, NC, and provides TIM Program Support as directed by NCDOT. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Iteris National Traffic Management Program as time permits.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze TIM performance data
- Strategic planning
- Arrange and conduct After Action Reviews (AAR) for major incidents
- Provide program implementation support
- Manage TIM related contracts
- Conduct research on best practices nationally
- Develop guidance documents
- Manage multiple projects
- Conduct analysis and research
- Prepare documents
- Train program curriculum
- Communicate with clients
- Support TIM, TSMO, and Traffic Operations programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
- An Engineer in Training certification (EIT) is preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in Traffic Incident Management, Traffic Management, TSMO, ITS, Traffic Engineering, or Transportation Design and Planning
- Experience providing Program Support to a transportation client
- Experience applying transportation engineering and/or planning principles such as design criteria, project goals, and specifications and standards
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with project team
- Able to effectively plan and schedule work
- Ideal candidate is preferred to be located within the Raleigh, NC metro area
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of traffic management systems and technologies

Pay
Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $81,700 and $90,900 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Schedule
This position is full-time and works on-site at the North Carolina DOT Statewide Traffic Management Center in Raleigh, NC.
