Responsibilities
- Lead and build the North Carolina/Georgia traffic team.
- Pair with Technical Lead(s) to continue and grow Traffic Engineering service offerings.
- Collaborate with other Transportation Discipline Leaders and Project Managers.
- Serve as Project Manager on traffic-focused projects, which could include Traffic Control, Signing and Marking, ITS, Signals, and/or Traffic Operations/Analysis.
- Prepare marketing materials and serve as Traffic Engineering Lead for project pursuits.
- Build strong working relationships with transportation clients in North Carolina and Georgia.
- Manage Projects and other project managers in the traffic engineering group.
- Manage task assignments and workloads and monitor project schedule and budget adherence in the Traffic Engineering group.
- Perform QC reviews of design plans and documents prepared by staff and other consultants.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer license is required. Ability to get NC PE within three (3) months.
- 15+ years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering, preferably with state and municipal agencies.
- Experience with Traffic Design (contract plans, specifications and estimate preparation for signals).
- Experience leading a team of engineers.
- Experience managing and delivering projects and tasks to meet set schedules and budgets.
- Ability to develop scope of work documents and prepare man-hour estimates.
- Ability to provide quality control oversight for aspects of traffic engineering tasks within candidate’s expertise.
- Ability to maintain good employee relations and project communication with both internal and external clients.
- Active in one or more traffic/transportation engineering related professional organizations (e.g., ITE, ITS America, WTS, ASHE).
Preferred, But Not Required Qualifications
- PTOE certification.
- NCDOT experience.
