About the role
Do you have a firm understanding of traffic engineering principles and enjoy solving today’s mobility challenges? Do you have project-related experience with traffic signal design plans, traffic signal timing, corridor studies, traffic impact studies, traffic operation studies, traffic control plans, traffic simulation modeling, and safety studies AND a working knowledge of the latest traffic engineering and simulation programs such as HCS, Synchro, PTV Vistro/Vissim and SIDRA?
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement traffic signal designs and timing plans.
- Conduct traffic impact and operation studies to evaluate the effects of proposed changes on traffic flow.
- Prepare traffic simulation models to predict the impacts of proposed changes on traffic conditions.
- Coordinate with other engineers and departments to ensure compliance with traffic engineering standards and regulations.
- Manage and assist in the production of design deliverables using MicroStation and other design platforms.
- Use GIS data visualization tools to support traffic engineering projects.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to traffic engineering projects.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and guidelines during all phases of the project.
Requirements
- BSCE from an ABET-accredited university.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee or the ability to obtain your Tennessee PE within 6 months.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), preferred.
- Experience working on projects for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with progressive traffic/transportation experience.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with traffic engineering software such as HCS, Synchro, PTV Vistro/Vissim, and SIDRA.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellence in team collaboration and relationship building skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices.
