Traffic Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and diverse Traffic Engineer to join our growing teams in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. You will be part of a team that designs resilient highways, iconic bridges, and various transportation systems.
Responsibilities
- Prepare signing, pavement marking, signal, lighting, temporary traffic control, and intelligent transportation system (ITS) plans for stand-alone or multi-disciplinary projects.
- Perform detail checks and work closely with junior staff and technicians on plan development.
- Support Project Managers with the development of fee proposals, providing direction to internal project teams, on-time submission delivery to clients, and financial monitoring of projects.
- Support regional offices in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio on similar traffic design projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 8+ years of experience related to traffic design
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license required
- Working knowledge of PennDOT, PTC, and ODOT standards, specifications, and plan preparation
- Computer skills using SignCAD and ORD
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task while working on several projects at once
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
- Detailed hands-on experience conducting traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad, and Guide Sign software
- Detailed hands-on experience conducting operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
- Detailed hands-on experience conducting safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
