Traffic Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and diverse Traffic Engineer to join our growing team. You will be an integral part of the Traffic and Planning team, providing technical support on various traffic design projects. Your responsibilities will include preparing plans for signing, pavement marking, signal, lighting, temporary traffic control, and intelligent transportation systems. You will also support project managers with fee proposal development, team coordination, and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare traffic design plans including signing, pavement marking, signal, lighting, temporary traffic control, and ITS plans for stand-alone or multi-disciplinary projects.
- Perform detail checks and work closely with junior staff and technicians on plan development.
- Support Project Managers with the development of fee proposals, providing direction to internal project teams, ensuring timely project submissions, and managing project finances.
- Assist regional offices in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio with similar traffic design projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 8+ years of experience related to traffic design
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license in the location of the position
- Working knowledge of PennDOT, PTC, and ODOT standards, specifications, and plan preparation
- Computer skills using SignCAD and Ord
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task while working on multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of PennDOT, PTC, and ODOT standards, specifications, and plan preparation
- Computer skills using SignCAD and Ord
- Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design
- Detail hands on experience conducting traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Guide Sign software
- Detail hands on experience conducting operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
- Detail hands on experience conducting safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati: $80,500 - $115,000.
