Traffic Engineer
About the role
The City of Sunnyvale is seeking two Regular Full-Time Employment Opportunities. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Sunnyvale offers its residents and visitors a beautiful, clean suburban setting, efficient city services, low crime rates, quality schools, and award-winning parks.
Responsibilities
Manage, coordinate, and oversee the City’s Traffic Calming Program. Work with residents on traffic calming requests, collect and analyze traffic data, conduct public outreach, develop and implement traffic calming measures to address community concerns, conduct after studies, and prepare recommendations for City Council consideration.
Manage the traffic issue request queue for all types of requests, working with the rest of the division on evaluations, resolutions, and responses to the requests.
Support the Transportation Special Projects team, working closely with a Principal Transportation Engineer and a Senior Traffic Engineer primarily on the delivery of large-scale transportation infrastructure projects for the City.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, and
- Two years of experience performing relevant, professional level work in traffic, transportation, or civil engineering.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Professional Civil or Traffic Engineer issued by the State of California is required.
Skills
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of traffic engineering as applied to the construction and maintenance of public works projects and traffic control programs.
- Ability to analyze traffic engineering data and reports; evaluate alternatives and reach sound decisions.
- Ability to interpret and work from design and construction plans, sketches and diagrams.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Pay
Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000 annually.
Schedule
Full-time, regular hours.
