About the role
The Traffic Control Technician I will be responsible for assisting with the daily functions of Precinct 2 including ensuring all traffic control devices, both regulated, non-regulated, and warning signs follow all County, State and Federal Standards, Regulations and Specifications. Operates different types of specialized heavy equipment used to perform construction and road maintenance projects.
Responsibilities
- Aid in performing required reflectivity testing.
- Help establish the replacement/maintenance schedules for all traffic control devices within the Precinct Boundaries.
- Aid with the setup of temporary traffic control standards at various work sites.
- Input corrective Traffic Signs repairs and maintenance requests in Cartegraph.
- Maintain the active required Regulatory and Non-Regulatory sign inventory.
- On-call after hours for Emergency “Regulatory” Traffic Sign repair or replacement.
- Operate different types of equipment used to remove obstructions interfering with the visibility of Traffic Signs.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- Two (2) years’ experience setting traffic control devices, detour signs installation experience required.
- Must have a valid Class C driver license and obtain a Texas Class “A” CDL license with tanker endorsement within eight (8) months of hire.
Qualifications
- Understanding of MUTCD codes and specifications.
- Possess a working knowledge of asphalt and concrete pavement.
- Basic knowledge of computer programs, smart levels, and digital measuring devices.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
