About the Role
A Protector at AWP Safety works with a team at job sites to ensure traffic safety. No experience or degree is needed—training and support are provided to help you build a career in traffic management.
Responsibilities
- Set up and take down cones, signs, barricades, and other traffic control equipment.
- Use a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic and monitor job site activity.
- Follow all safety rules taught in training.
- Communicate with your crew and supervisor.
- Help maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods (8–12 hours per shift).
- Able to lift 40–50 pounds.
- Willing to work in traffic and changing weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule; must show up on time for every shift.
- Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety-sensitive job).
- Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules at all times.
- Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect.

You must provide your own steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle.
Pay
$18.00–$18.75 per hour. Overtime available, with pay increases in your first year.

Schedule
- Shifts may vary based on job needs, including nights, weekends, or emergency work.
- You may stand or walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
