Traffic and Planning Co-Op

About This Position Co-Ops evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional types of plans, development of planning studies or reports, investigations, or surveys with relatively few complex features under the general guidance of a Project Planner/Engineer or Project Manager. This work is on small projects or portions of larger projects. Typical projects include traffic impact studies, traffic safety studies, traffic management for special events, multi-modal transportation planning (including work for local, county, regional, and state agencies, as well as transit authorities), support for highway, bridge, and traffic signal design, and public engagement in support of all project types mentioned above. Essential Job Functions Data collection in the fieldPerform specific portions of a broader assignment, assisting an experienced planner/engineerPerform standard computations or basic analysisPrepare drawings, sketches, and visual aidsAssist in maintaining equipment inventoryPerform design tasksPerform quantity estimatesAttend project meetings with senior staffResponsible for writing report sectionsResponsible for basic QA/QC tasks; review of own workAssists at various meetings including public and client meetings Job Requirements Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in related discipline such as civil engineering or planning from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent.Self-motivated and strong work ethic. Strong organizational skills requiredAbility to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Experience with Word, Excel, Teams, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign) encouraged.
