Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment across the main campus and off-site locations.
- Conduct monthly life-safety inspections of emergency lighting systems and complete repairs or replacements as needed.
- Perform skilled work in building maintenance, renovation, repair, and construction on both routine and emergency bases.
- Perform electrical work as well as plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, and general maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable codes, laws, accepted trade practices, and safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and formal training or trade experience directly related to the area of employment (construction or repair of secondary electrical systems).
- Valid SC driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree and four (4) years of experience as a journeyman electrician, OR a high school diploma and three (3) years of journeyman experience.
- Technical, trade, military training, or completion of an electrical apprenticeship is preferred.
- Experience working with high-voltage systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical tools, equipment, materials, methods, and best practices.
- Ability to make emergency repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to follow instructions and plan, direct, and evaluate the work of others.
- Ability to work with minimal or no supervision during emergencies.
- Availability for on-call response outside normal work hours.
- Must serve as essential personnel before, during, and after severe weather or other emergencies, including nights and weekends.
