Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment across the main campus and off-site locations.
  • Conduct monthly life-safety inspections of emergency lighting systems and complete repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Perform skilled work in building maintenance, renovation, repair, and construction on both routine and emergency bases, including electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, and general maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, laws, accepted trade practices, and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal training or trade experience directly related to electrical systems construction or repair.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Associate’s degree and four years of experience as a journeyman electrician, or a high school diploma and three years of journeyman experience.
  • Technical, trade, military training, or completion of an electrical apprenticeship.
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical tools, equipment, materials, methods, and best practices.
  • Ability to make emergency repairs, read and interpret blueprints and specifications, and follow instructions.
  • Experience planning, directing, and evaluating the work of others.
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision during emergencies.
  • Availability for on-call response outside normal work hours.
  • Designation as essential personnel before, during, and after severe weather or other emergencies, including nights and weekends.
