About the role
The Trades Maintenance Lead Specialist will lead and participate in advanced levels of maintenance, repair, diagnosis, troubleshooting, construction and preventative maintenance of PYT owned housing facilities. Accountable for activities and ensuring services or products comply with written procedure, engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, industry standards and statutory codes and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead others in highly skilled fabrication or modifications of existing or proposed equipment, housing facilities, and systems according to verbal directions, sketches, plans, engineering drawings or technical references.
- Perform skilled analysis, critical repairs of PYT owned housing facilities, equipment, and systems in accordance with HUD standards.
- Inspect service and maintain assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Perform quality control analysis on equipment or supported systems for proper functioning and perform remedial actions necessary to assure optimum operations.
- Maintain comprehensive records of work performed modifications to equipment or systems and related operations logs and prepares periodic and special reports for management on equipment, systems and/or facilities supported maintained.
- Prepare working sketches, drawings, and estimates of resources required for assigned projects.
- Interpret and apply required codes or standards to work situations.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to facilitate work.
- Operate specialized equipment in direct support of other activities.
- Act as work center supervisor in the absence of the Trades Maintenance Supervisor.
- Inspect and approve work of work-unit staff.
- Participate in development of requests for proposals and contracts for equipment, supplies, and services.
- Monitor contract or/vendor-supplied equipment, supplies and services for compliance with contract provision conducts.
- Cookordinate own work-unit activities or with other work-units, agencies, contractors to assure optimal use of available resources and to minimize disruptions of service or support.
- Conduct on-the-job training for employees in assigned work-unit.
- Maintain security and accountability for all tools, equipment, and materials.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED and completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship program, two (2) years' experience at journey-level work: and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Certified Trades Training preferred.

- Operation and maintenance of tools, equipment and materials encountered in area of assignment.
- Operation and maintenance of testing and monitoring equipment common to skill, trade or specialization.
- Effective supervision, training and communications techniques.
- Hazards, safety procedures or equipment required in the area of specialization or assigned work-areas.
- Codes, standards, rules and regulations applicable to the craft, trade, specialty or area of work assignment.
- Basic contracting processes, including quality assurance or inspection of supplies or services for compliance with contracts.
- Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
