Responsibilities
- Determine product tariff and export classifications under U.S. and international trade rules, and maintain accurate classification data within company records.
- Review import and export documentation for completeness and accuracy to support timely customs clearance and regulatory reporting.
- Manage supplier outreach related to trade program participation and prepare certificates of origin and other required supporting documents.
- Cookier border movements of equipment and materials, ensuring each transaction meets legal and procedural requirements.
- Exercise independent judgment to investigate proposed shipments, confirm compliance, and halt activity when regulatory concerns are identified.
- Perform risk-based reviews of trade transactions, identify compliance gaps, and recommend corrective actions to reduce exposure.
- Conduct internal audits and assessments to evaluate adherence to import and export regulations and improve control effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver training, guidance, and compliance support to departments responsible for trade-related procedures and work instructions.
- Monitor regulatory developments, interpret changes in trade laws, and advise stakeholders on potential business impact.
- Contribute to special projects involving international trade operations, process improvement, and compliance initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in international trade, logistics, customs, or import/export compliance.
- Hands-on experience assigning Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications and export classifications with a high degree of accuracy.
- Working knowledge of trade regulations such as ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, customs regulations, and foreign trade reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of international shipping and customs documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, air waybills, and country-of-origin records.
- Ability to interpret regulations, review complex documentation, and make sound compliance decisions independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with enterprise systems used for trade or logistics data management.
- Experience with audit activities, internal controls, and continuous improvement methods such as Lean or Six Sigma is preferred.

Benefits
- The targeted salary range for this position is $75-113K, eligible for annual bonus based on company performance.
