About the role
AWS Security is seeking a Trade Operations Manager, NAM to support import and export operational compliance across the United States and Canada. This position will be based out of an Amazon corporate office in the US and requires the ability to travel periodically.
Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance monitoring frameworks and collaborate with AWS teams to execute trade compliance programs and initiatives.
- Operate cross-functionally to identify process optimization and automation opportunities.
- Build data and reporting standards that drive trade compliance accuracy and consistency.
- Generate efficiencies through SOP development and customer mechanisms.
- Monitor regulatory changes and track import/export regulatory updates impacting NAM cross-border requirements.
- Provide import/export compliance guidance, coordinate with customs brokers and third-party providers, and manage team deliverables.
- Classify technology, hardware, and software using HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN, and analyze tariffs to support mitigation plans.
- Ensure import documentation compliance by reviewing documents for accuracy, supporting entry filing, monitoring shipment status, and resolving import holds.
- Develop audit and reporting frameworks, conduct self-assessments, and implement corrective actions.
- Drive process improvement and automation by identifying optimization opportunities, building data standards, and enhancing trade compliance systems.
- Maintain operational procedures by documenting and updating SOPs, work instructions, and process revisions.
- Manage cross-functional relationships with Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Tax, Legal, and Trade Operations to close process gaps.
- Deliver compliance training by building training and communication plans for internal and external partners; maintain training records.
- Track and report performance metrics on compliance accuracy, transit time, broker performance, and cost for leadership reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of data analysis using tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in import/export compliance, with foundational knowledge of U.S. and Canada trade regulations
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as engineering, supply chain, or procurement
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience in Trade Compliance and/or Supply Chain, such as customs operations, compliance specialist, or customs agent roles
- Experience with Tariff Management & Mitigation processes, including Section 232/301 strategies
- Experience performing trade classifications (HTS codes, ECCNs, and Country of Origin)
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or Certified Export/Compliance Specialist (CES/CCS) credential through NCBFAA's NEI Programs, or equivalent trade compliance accreditation
