Tractor Technician Trainee
Job Summary
Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment. Technicians must be able to troubleshoot issues, complete all fleet maintenance processes, and ensure that units meet J.B. Hunt specifications at all times. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime.
Job Description
- Shadow a more senior team member to learn to perform repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications
- complete work orders, and train to be efficient in company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers at all times
- Train to become efficient in routine preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, basic repair as it pertains to air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections

Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age
- Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
- Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
- Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
