About the role
Koch Companies is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician II for their Koch National Lease team at their St. Paul, MN location. This role involves performing advanced preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and complex repairs on both tractor and trailer units. Ensuring all work meets DOT, state, federal, and company standards while maintaining accurate maintenance records and supporting inventory control is a key responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and advanced repairs on tractors and trailers
- Troubleshoot and repair systems across broad categories, including Powertrain and driveline, Suspension, steering, and braking (air and hydraulic), Electrical and electronic systems, HVAC and cooling systems, Aftertreatment and exhaust systems, Liftgate systems (electrical, hydraulic, fabrication), Reefer systems, Roll up door components, APU systems
- Complete general repairs using hand tools, jacks, hoists, and specialized equipment
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Order necessary parts and support inventory management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Provide on-the-job training to junior technicians and helpers
- Make warranty recommendations and document all work accurately
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of tractor maintenance experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safety. Ability to independently complete advanced repairs. Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting abilities across tractor and trailer systems. Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, computerized instrumentation, and maintenance documentation. ABS brake system certification. Eligibility for Minnesota State DOT inspector certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards. Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Heavy Duty Truck Technology or related field preferred. 3 or more years of tractor maintenance experience. Ability to independently complete advanced repairs. Knowledge of and proficiency with diagnostic equipment, computerized instrumentation, and maintenance documentation. ABS brake system certification. Eligibility for Minnesota State DOT inspector certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Benefits
Compensation Package: $30.00 to $42.00 / hour ($5.00/ hour shift differential) Starting pay within this range will be based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
