About the role

The season for this position runs from February to May. The job is for a high school track coaching position at Riverside.

Responsibilities

As Head Coach, responsibilities include:

• Assisting in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes
• Assisting the athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retaining assistant coaches
• Directing, supervising, and evaluating the performance of all assistant coaches
• Working cooperatively with the athletic director to assure proper insurance coverage for all athletes
• Fostering an appreciation of the values of athletics, a desire to win, and good sportsmanship among participants and spectators
• Directing the training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity athletic team
• Supervising athletes at invitational meets or post-season competition
• Advising the athletic director on schedule preparation, official selection, and equipment needs
• Providing for the inventory and care of equipment
• Ensuring all athletes have undergone and passed medical examinations before the regular practice season begins
• Organizing a system for encouraging students to try out for the team and recruiting support staff
• Collecting and keeping records, statistics, news items, and photographs for the athletic teams

As Assistant Coach, responsibilities include:

• Working cooperatively with the head athletic coach and athletic department
• Attending staff meetings and carrying out specific duties designated by the head athletic coach
• Recommending equipment and supplies needed for the sports program
• Fostering a desire to win, good sportsmanship, and personal pride among athletes

Qualifications

• Coaching experience or participation in the sport at the high school or college level
• Completion of CPR and First Aid training or enrollment in a current course
• Preferred experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools
• Preferred Virginia Teaching License candidate or full-time classified employee for Loudoun County Public Schools
