Project ManagementFull-time

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to serve as the Chief of Staff for Amazon's Wireless Connectivity organization, supporting engineers across the US and Asia. This role focuses on operational excellence, strategic planning, and AI-powered program management for a leadership org that delivers wireless connectivity solutions (WiFi, Bluetooth, Thread, Zigbee, Matter, Sidewalk) across Amazon’s device portfolio, including Echo, Fire TV, Ring, Blink, Key, smart eyewear, and next-generation smart home products.

About the Role

This is not a traditional "track one program" TPM role. You will act as the operating system for a hardware engineering organization by running the planning cadence, driving headcount and budget decisions, preparing executive documents (OP1/OP2), monitoring the health of 30+ concurrent programs, and building AI-augmented workflows to replace manual toil. Leadership will rely on you to track program status and maintain org health.

Responsibilities

  • Org Operations & Cadence
    • Own and run the leadership operating rhythm: WBR, MBR, QBR, OP cycles
    • Drive cross-team coordination across 4+ sub-orgs
    • Prepare agendas, track action items, and ensure decisions are documented and followed through
    • Manage org-wide communications: announcements, hiring updates, launch celebrations
  • Strategic Planning & HC Management
    • Own the annual/bi-annual OP1/OP2 planning cycle end-to-end: narrative writing, HC asks, cost modeling
    • Manage headcount forecasting and run monthly HC scrub: validate loading against 9-Box rules, identify violations, prepare remediation plans
    • Model trade-offs between programs, functions, and geos for leadership decisions
    • Prepare and maintain roadmap-to-HC mapping for 50+ product programs
  • Org Health & Escalation
    • Monitor org health across the full portfolio (milestones, risks, blockers, dependencies)
    • Build dashboards and automated reports that surface Red/Yellow status before review meetings
    • Prepare escalation write-ups with data, context, and recommended actions for leadership
  • AI-Augmented Operations (Differentiator)
    • Build, maintain, and improve AI agent workflows that automate operational toil
    • Design and operate LLM-based tools for: HC scrub automation, program mapping, report generation, document drafting, and executive summaries
    • Continuously identify manual processes that can be automated with AI/ML tooling
    • Evaluate and adopt new AI capabilities (coding assistants, document analysis, data pipelines) for org-wide benefit
  • Executive Communication
    • Write executive-ready narratives: OP documents, business reviews, org highlights, 6-pagers
    • Translate technical wireless engineering work into business impact for non-technical audiences
    • Prepare data-backed briefing materials for leadership reviews

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • 2+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience
  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies
  • Experience in business analysis and functional roles requiring quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills, including intermediate Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookups)
  • Experience producing executive-level written materials and presenting to executive audiences
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
  • Ability to handle ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem-solving abilities
  • BS degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent, or 5+ years of technical work experience
  • AI/ML Proficiency: Ability to design AI agents (e.g., prompt engineering, RAG systems, tool-use agents) to solve operational problems—not just using ChatGPT, but building systems from scratch
  • Engineering Literacy: Ability to read a program schedule, understand hardware development phases (Proto → EVT → DVT → PVT → MP), comprehend basic system architecture, and ask intelligent questions of engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Experience in new hardware product development
  • Scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies (WiFi, BT/BLE, cellular, RF, antenna)—enough to contextualize risks, not design circuits
  • Experience with Amazon planning tools (Foresight, Kingpin, Quip, iCIMS) or similar enterprise planning systems
  • Experience building AI/LLM agent workflows (prompt engineering, RAG systems, tool-use agents, MCP)
  • Prior Chief of Staff or Business Operations experience for a senior leader

Pay

USA, CA, Sunnyvale - $146,200.00 - $197,800.00 USD annually

Benefits

  • Sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs)
  • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D, with options for supplemental life plans)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage
  • 401(k) matching
  • Paid time off and parental leave
