Town Manager

About the role

The Town of Middleborough, MA, is seeking a Town Manager to lead this historic and dynamic community. Middleborough is one of the largest municipalities by land area in the Commonwealth, balancing its rich agricultural heritage with strategic commercial development and growing residential neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

- Oversee an operating budget of $109.4M with 270 full-time and 200 part-time employees. - Serve as the Chief Administrative and Procurement Officer. - Manage a diverse portfolio including a gas and electric department. - Ensure compliance with Massachusetts procurement laws and collective bargaining/labor relations. - Communicate effectively with the Select Board and the public.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, or a closely related field. - Master’s degree (MPA/MBA) preferred. - Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive, successful experience as a Town Manager, Town Administrator, or Assistant Manager/Administrator. - Equivalent senior leadership experience in a complex public sector, nonprofit, or corporate environment may be considered. - Expertise in municipal finance and budget modeling. - Solid knowledge of Massachusetts procurement laws (MCPPO certification is a plus). - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
