Position Details
Bluewave is looking to add permanent, full-time team members as part of the Tower Technician I apprentice program. This position will participate in the build and maintenance of wireless equipment and structures as a member of a team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports the build and maintenance of cell towers, small cells, and other wireless equipment and structures as a 2-4 person team.
- Completes the work assigned by the team foreman while ensuring safety, quality, timeliness, and financial expectations are met.
- Partakes and passes all necessary certifications, licensing, and trainings provided by Bluewave and is trade partners.
- On site responsibilities and training will include:
- Grounding installation of antennas
- Antenna mounts, microwaves, coax lines, TMA’s, RF Jumpers, remote electrical down-tilts / Bias-T’s, Remote radio heads
- Fiber / DC Hybrid cables
- Sweep and PIM testing
- Site audits and maintenance tasks
- Troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance
- Supports ensuring safe work conditions and adhering to Bluewave safety protocols.
- Complete work in a timely and efficient manner by planning, prioritizing, and coordination with supervisors.
- Must be able to work overtime to include Saturdays, Sundays, and evening hours.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete all aspects of BCI’s Tower training classes.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Education And/or Experience: High School or GED required. Thrill-seeker who excels at climbing 200 + feet into air on telecommunication antennas and conducting professional work while at top. Excellent safety record. Transferable skills from military experience, construction, linesman, tree-trimming, electrician, etc.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Bi-Lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Drivers License required. OSHA 10 not required but preferred. Not required but preferred: (BCI will train as required) NWSA–TTTIGin Pole Certified Competent Climber / Rigging o RF Awareness Fall protection / Rescue.
