PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Tower Operator ensures the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trains by executing operational directives under the supervision of the Train Dispatcher.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Dispatches train and engineering movements safely and efficiently
- Issues track authorities for train movement and engineering personnel protection
- Delivers Track Bulletins to ensure safety and compliance
- Records operational data as required by company and federal regulations
- Reports train delays and operational issues to the Train Dispatcher
- Facilitates prompt car movement and reports delays
- Aids in investigations of train accidents and personal injuries
- Adheres to all rules, procedures, and the Transportation Health and Safety Plan
- Communicates effectively with personnel at all organizational levels
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Graduation or General Equivalency
- 1–3 years of experience in transportation or train operations preferred
- Working knowledge of General Code of Operating Rules, timetables, operations manuals, and notices
- Previous experience as a Tower Operator or in a similar role would be an asset
- Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in computer systems and ability to learn train control applications
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Color vision required

- This is a safety critical position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required.
