About the role
The Tourism Intern assists with planning, execution, and post-event follow-up of events and activities associated with tourism, conventions, meetings, conferences, sports events, and hospitality in the City of College Station. This is a part-time non-benefited position with flexible shifts, Monday – Friday, requiring occasional weekend/evening hours based on events.
Responsibilities
- Perform administrative office support duties, including assisting with registration, tracking promotional inventory, and creating informational and promotional packets/bags
- Assist with planning, preparation, and participation of Visit College Station events, including client events, site visits, and familiarization trips
- Develop and maintain a knowledge base about the City of College Station destination to promote College Station tourism and events
- Provide excellent customer service and support to customers/visitors by providing information related to local tourism events and activities
- Maintain and update the digital library of local attractions
- Assist with tracking social media postings
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or recent graduate with a degree in a related field
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills to complete daily tasks and a variety of projects
- Experience working with events/activities, demonstrated reliability and work ethic
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
