About the role

Secret Food Tours is an award-winning tour company currently looking for outgoing individuals who are passionate about food and history to guide foodie tours through historic Downtown Pittsburgh. This contracted position is a lot of fun and a perfect fit for applicants with a flair for entertaining and a love of great food. Our guides are independent contractors who lead small groups of tourists through some of Pittsburgh's best hidden gems while sharing history and culture along the way.

Responsibilities

• Lead small groups of tourists through Pittsburgh's hidden gems while sharing history and culture.
• Follow tour requirements while using personal skills and experience to enhance the experience.
• Work outside and walk approximately 2 miles per tour.

Requirements

• Fluent in English.
• Professional, responsible, and skilled with time and money management.
• Knowledgeable and passionate about Pittsburgh’s history, culture, and food.
• Outgoing and dedicated to providing a once‑in‑a‑lifetime guest experience.
• Over the age of 21.

Qualifications

• Backgrounds in performance, teaching, history, college studies, or related fields are a plus.

Skills

• Flair for entertaining and engaging storytelling.
• Strong time and money management.
• Passion for food and ability to convey enthusiasm.
• Outgoing personality and guest‑focused attitude.

Benefits

Pay

Flat guide rate of $70 per 3‑ to 3.5‑hour tour, plus tips (which can be very generous).
