About the role

As a Total Loss Adjuster for General Motors Insurance, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate and adjust low to moderately complex claims presented by or against our insureds to confirm coverage, determine legal liability, and equitably settle/defend in compliance with all state regulatory requirements. This role includes managing and supporting the customer through the damages process for total loss. You will look for recovery opportunities and pursue them when appropriate. You will work with a great deal of autonomy and make decisions to effectively and efficiently resolve claims. You will recognize life events, understand customers' needs, and provide advice to deliver appropriate solutions. This is a remote position that does not require any travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide claims service via various channels to policyholders and third-party customers.
  • Handle low to moderately complex auto claims.
  • Acquire and apply basic knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance industry products, services, and processes, including P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages, and General Motors Insurance claims handling processes and procedures.
  • Seek guidance from team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate issues for escalation.
  • Partner with and/or direct vendors and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.
  • Contribute to business goals, performance metrics, and effectively use tools & technology.
  • Support workload surges and/or catastrophe operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in an inbound phone-intensive, contact center environment using a headset.
  • Knowledge of how to build lasting relationships with internal and external customers and business partners.
  • Computer literacy in a Windows operating environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to implement and adapt to rapid change.
  • Creative, innovative, and forward-thinking mindset.
  • Able to navigate and work in multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Work effectively within an AI-enabled environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of claims adjusting experience required.
  • 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
  • 1 year of customer contact experience preferred.
  • Current Insurance Adjuster License required.

Strong preference for a 10:00 am - 7:00 pm CST schedule. Two positions available.

Pay

The base range for this role is $52,000 - $96,000. Exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan.
