About the Role
Obtains all necessary information to evaluate auto total loss claims and expedite settlement.
Responsibilities
- Confirm coverage for claims.
- Accurately and efficiently complete all phases of an auto total loss claim from inception to settlement.
- Investigate major losses and complex claims personally and/or in conjunction with a Specialist/Manager.
- Obtain appraisals, repair estimates, total loss evaluations, market comparables, photos, NADA data, etc., via telephone, correspondence, or personal visits.
- Analyze accumulated data, reports, and photos to evaluate total loss claims; determine coverage and extent of loss; prepare corresponding claims summaries.
- Settle auto total loss claims within limits of authority; issue checks/ACH for claim payment, obtain liability releases upon settlement, and close claim files.
- Complete tag tax and title processes, approve and extend rental vehicle usage, report vehicles to the insurance pool, post salvage proceeds, and complete salvage transmittals.
- Confer with the District Claims Manager regarding complex claims or when potential exposure exceeds settlement authority.
- Periodically review all open claims files assigned to adjuster, obtain necessary information, and adjust reserve amounts as needed.
- Travel to county offices as needed and assist with catastrophe losses as part of storm teams.
- Set reserve amounts, follow up on necessary information, record diaries for scheduled review of files, and issue payments and correspondence as needed.
- As a licensed Claims Adjuster, handle all lines of insurance claims within the assigned territory as directed by the company.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Participation in continuing education programs, such as AIC or INS courses, and sitting for national exams.
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license or ability to obtain one; satisfactory driving record is a condition of employment.
- Obtainment of adjuster license is required.
- Investigative skills and proven ability to work with people and solve problems.
- Ability to manage stress due to high volumes of work, long hours, and dealing with discontented insureds and/or third parties.
- Work unscheduled hours and travel as required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to present information and respond to inquiries effectively.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and compute rates, ratios, and percentages; draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of computers and computer systems.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to taste or smell.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This is not a remote position.
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
